Oleksiy Gritsenko and Sergiy Suprun were released early in the morning on 20 March at a village on the border between Kherson region in mainland Ukraine and the Crimea. Natalya Lukyanchenko had been released earlier.
Six other hostages were also released including the Commander of the Ukrainian Navy. Oleksiy Gritsenko reported on his Facebook page: “We will soon be in Kherson. There are seven of us. Yury Shevchenko (another freed hostage) has been shot in the legs. The first wish is for a wash….” Anatoliy Gritsenko, father of Oleksiy Gritsenko, thanked Amnesty International today for our campaigning on behalf
of the three activists and reported that they were still in Kherson region but expected to make their way home soon.
