Nay Pyi Taw
Allow me to turn to you on behalf of Amnesty International Czech Republic and bring to your attention to the case of Burmese medical doctor Tun Aung, who was arrested in June 2012 and then held in isolation for a number of months before being sentenced to 17 years in prison.
Amnesty International considers Tun Aung to be a prisoner of conscience and strongly believes that he was imprisoned solely because of his position and reputation as a respected leader in the local Muslim community.
In the light of the above described, I respectfully urge you, Your Excellency, to ensure that Doctor Tung Aung be immediately and unconditionally released.
In the spirit of respect for the basic values of human dignity, freedom, equality and solidarity, I call on you, Your Exellency, to respect human rights not only in the case of Doctor Tung Aung mentioned in this letter, but also all those who are unjustly imprisoned or persecuted in Burma.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
