Yorm Bopha Released on Bail

  Článek

On November 22, 2013, Yorm Bopha was released on bail after the Supreme Court sent her case back to the Appeals court for re-review. As a result of her release, she has been able to rejoin her family, but her fight is not over, as her conviction still stands and she is still at risk of imprisonment. Amnesty International still considers Bopha a prisoner of conscience, and we will continue our work until she is unconditionally released.

Cambodian unjustly sentenced to three years in prison!

Yorm Bopha was sentenced in December 2012 to three years in prison after being accused of planning an assault on two men suspected of theft. Bopha is a activist living at Boeung Kak lake in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, where she defends the people's right to housing and freedom of expression. Amnesty International sees Bopha as a prisoner of conscience, detained by the authorities in connection with her peaceful activist activities.
